25

Friends, I turned 25 this weekend! Twenty-freaking-five. AKA a quarter of a century. I have been dreading this number more than anything...and now, it's actually here! The good news is, I didn't explode and burst into flames like I thought I was going to. The even better news is that I've quickly realized 25 may in fact be one of my best years yet. When I was a child, I was certain I'd have my life together by the time I turned 25. Not sure why, but to me, a 25 year old was an adult with 2 babies and a minivan. SO, when my last few weeks of being 24 rolled around, I started to panic. There are no babies here-besides our incredibly spoiled dog, and definitely no minivan. Any who, now that 25 is here, I realize that I am exactly where I need to be in life, even if I'm not meeting those little me expectations.

I've also decided 25 is going to be the year of inclusion. This weekend I realized I have so many incredible friends, many of which understand the feeling of not meeting their "age expectations". It may have been all the wine I drank, but sitting at that big fancy winery with so many people from different parts of my life made my heart feel all the feelings. Feelings of joy and overwhelm for how lucky I am to have even one loving and loyal friend, let alone fifteen of them. I hope to look back at this big ~scary~ year and see days filled laughing with my friends, nuzzling my husband, and cuddling my dog...all the happy things in life! K, so now that I'm done being a sap, here are a ton of photos from my celebration. Andy did such an awesome job organizing the cutest little breakfast and a fun wine excursion with all my favorite people! Did you know wine slushies are a thing? They're delicious and I'm pretty sure it's the only way I'll be drinking my wine this Summer.

Also, no birthday of mine would be complete without a trip to Disneyland! Andy and I spent most of the time drinking coffee and watching all the ducks...easily one of our favorite ways to spend a few hours at the park, ha.

  4. Happiest of birthdays my dear internet friend! It's okay, I've been dreading turning 23 in March. 23 just seems like SUCH an awkward year trapped between college adolescence and early "twenty-something" adulthood. I think it's almost second nature to think that you should be more, have more, want more by the time you reach whatever age you're at. It's a total universal thing to not feel like you're living up to your age expectations. I know I certainly feel it myself! When I was a kid, I thought by 21 it was totally reasonable to expect to be married and have a kid, but as I approached 21 I realized that little tidbit I'd held onto my whole life was ABSOLUTELY BANANAS (sorry Mom)!

Just try to remember to be gentle with yourself and realize that you do have enough and are "perfectly positioned" at this time in your life. Enjoy this exciting time! Also, wine slushies are BOMB, though I've never had one that looks as good as the one you're holding!
