If you're married to a hardcore Star Wars fan (or you yourself are one), I probably don't have to tell you that it's STAR WARS WEEK! My husband has been anxiously awaiting this premiere since I by a seriously crazy miracle, snagged us tickets to opening night. He's been "joking" for months now that this movie is going to be the highlight of 2015 for him. We got married this year, but no biggie, Andy. Needless to say, he is seriously living it up this week. We're all friends here, so I'm going to be totally honest with you and tell you that I've never actually watched the Star Wars series *gasp*. I know, I know. Before you pull out your lightsabers to try to run me off the internet, I come with a peace offering: Star Wars themed cocktails! I may not get the craze, but I can always get behind a cocktail ;)
Yoda Gin & Tonic
This is a classic gin and tonic with a tiny (very green) twist. You will need 3 ounces of gin, 4 ounces of tonic water, a squeeze of fresh lime, and a little squirt of green food coloring. I added little Yoda trinkets in there because what the hey!
Stormtrooper Fiery White Russian
I'm pretty sure White Russians aren't meant to be spicy, but I really couldn't help myself once this idea came to mind. Again, I've yet to watch any Star Wars movies, but when I think of Stormtroopers, I think fire + anger. SO, it only made sense to me to add a touch of fireball to this cocktail. The basics of a White Russian are 2/3 oz coffee liquor, 1 2/3 oz vodka, and 1 oz fresh cream. For that extra kick, throw in a shot of fireball and mix.
We're watching the movie at one of those deluxe theaters with reclining chairs and a bar. So far, Andy has his Star Wars outfit prepared, tickets printed and stored away for safety, and the grin of a 5 year old on Christmas morning, haha. I've heard such crazy things about people already waiting in line in front of certain theaters so they can grab the best seat possible on opening night. As for me, I'll be over here, sipping on my yoda cocktail, waiting to figure out what all the excitement is about. If you're the wife or girlfriend of someone counting down the seconds to Thursday night, may the force be with you (or whatever).
Are you watching Star Wars this week?!?
