DIY Painted Sushi Boards

I've been on a serious paint all the things kick lately. Like, I cannot.stop. If I see something in a neutral color, you better believe I'm going to smother it in something happy and bright! The other day I was strolling through Daiso (my new obsession), and I came across these sushi boards that were just begging for a makeover. These sushi boards were so easy to upgrade, they're super fun and colorful, and they're the perfect excuse to have sushi more often. Win all around, am I right?!?

-Sushi boards & chopsticks
-Multi surface craft paint
-Dishwasher safe mod podge
-Tape

Start by taping off your boards and creating the shapes and lines you want to paint. This is the really fun part, because you can get as creative as you want. Once you've taped everything down, simply go to town with the paint. I did one light layer first, let it dry for about 10 minutes, added one more layer, waited another 10 minutes, and topped it off with a last layer of paint. This next step is super important, unless you're down to ingest a ton of paint. Once your boards are completely dry, roll your mod podge bottle on a flat surface before applying a thin layer on your boards. Now here's the totally sad part...you have to wait 28 days for it to cure. I KNOW. Crocodile tears. But I promise, in 28 days you're going to feel super fly eating off the cutest sushi boards ever!

After you've survived 28 days, enjoy your sushi on these cuties all the time! Wohoo! Okay, now the super important question here is, what's your favorite type of sushi? I like good ol' sashimi for the most part, but I'm also all about tuna hand rolls. Yum!

  1. Question: do you get funny looks if you bring your own sushi board to the sushi restaurant??
