Life Lately

Happy Friday! Can you believe May is over with? UH. WHAT. I'm excited for a new month, and though I'm not a big fan of Summer, I'm excited for it to get here because Andrew and I have a lot of fun plans! Speaking of Andrew, I am seriously digging this whole being married thing. We've been together for almost 5 years now, and he's only been my husband for about 3 months, but I'm certain I love him way more now than I have in the last few years combined. Am I being too cheesy? Totally. Am I sorry? Nah. Really, being married is so much more special than I could have imagined. Sure there are still days when I'm 3 seconds away from wanting to kick his ass, but 95% of the time, I just want to give him all the hugs and kind of pinch myself because he is really my husband! *big, toothy grin* PS: you can checkout our wedding photos here!

Favorite person!
Besides being all in love and stuff, I've been keeping myself busy with the usual. I have to admit that this month I realized the usual is not working for me at the moment. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with my life. I love my job, I very obviously (and obnoxiously) love my husband, my friends and family are fantastic, and let's not forget about our sweet pup Duke who fills up my heart with all the love. But lately I've just felt like everything is the exact same. All the time. I know it's because the past year was spent wedding planning and celebrating, and although I don't mind routine, I'm starting to realize that it's okay to go through seasons of really needing more and not being ashamed to admit that. After a little conversation with Andrew about my feelings, he reassured me that it was completely normal, and being the awesome guy that he is, he planned a few fun things for us to do. Some are planned for a while from now, but it really makes me feel happier seeing these things in our calendar. Anyway, besides that little "I need more adventure" epiphany, here's what else I've been up to...

Making: A lot of things out of oven bake clay. It's so fun and easy to use!
Cooking: A veggie mix of brussels sprouts, asparagus, mushrooms, and broccoli. I don't usually enjoy eating the same thing multiple times a week, but this, I love! I usually just chop everything up, let everything sit in a hot pan with a tiny bit of olive oil, salt & pepper, and let it all cook for about 15-20 minutes. I like to claim that I have this as a side, but really it's mostly my main meal and then I have a little of whatever else Andrew and I have cooked. I just love the taste of these veggies so much! Also, I've been eating Thai food once a week. The obsession is real
Drinking: Hazelnut coffee. SO GOOD.
Listening: To Zedd/a lot of EDM (I know, what the heck??), also I've really been enjoying the Throw Back Thursday station on Spotify. Early 2000's music will forever be my favorite! Also Taylor, of course.
Wanting: Water with a ton of ice. It's the only way I'll drink it as of late #highmaintenance
Watching: Parks & Rec on Netflix. HILARIOUS. I can't stop!
Enjoying: A fun park we just started taking Duke to. The last time we were there, we ran into a sweet group of people on a mission from Texas. They asked if we needed any prayers and I was so touched by them. We've only encountered really nice people there, so I love it! Plus it's a little hidden so it's nice to let Duke run free without freaking out about other dogs/cars.
Wondering: Who Charles is, why he popped out of nowhere, where they're taking this new season of PLL, and if Marlene King really knows what she's doing. I need to know all of this. Stat.
Loving: Waking up before Andrew and Duke and watching them snuggle each other. It's the cutest thing. I think Duke thinks he's a real human.
Hoping: I can still get a Disneyland 60th Anniversary balloon this weekend! They're so pretty!
Wearing: Black. Always.
Following: So many people on Pinterest! I'm on a pinning kick. Let's be pals. You can find me here
Bookmarking: Shoes. 2 new pairs may or may not have arrived for me in the last few weeks. Oh, one of the pairs may or may not have flamingos printed all over them ;)
Feeling: Excited for the next few weeks. Andrew and I are going to Las Vegas and Palm Springs!

What have you been up to? Do you have any fun plans this weekend?

  1. What do the flamingo shoes look like? I love flamingos. As for this weekend, I am going to a baseball game and maybe the zoo :)

    1. They're white slip on sneakers with pink flamingos printed all over :) I hope you had a great weekend Nikki!

  2. I love when people speak well of their husbands! There are too many bloggers who knock their husbands and I hate it.

  3. This is my first time reading your blog and I love it - your kinda remind me of me (because I'm so in love with my hubby too). And I think that sounds way more narcissistic than I planned...

    1. Haha, that's so sweet! Thanks so much for being here Zully :)

  4. Awww Jess, I love how happy you are Andrew are! Also, his shirt is PHENOMENAL!! I hope you two have a great weekend and you can get your Disneyland balloon. Please take tons of photos of the celebration to share with us :)

    1. Haha, it's one of my favorite shirts of his! Mostly because I picked it out :)

  5. I am loving that popsicle shirt! So fun. I just looked through your wedding photo post and I am in love! Everything is so beautiful and the photo of your husband seeing you walk down the isle almost had me in tears! Happiness just spews from your blog posts.
