Listen To The Plant

I feel like I'm having a blogging midlife crisis (and a blog identity crisis, while we're at it). Nothing is necessarily wrong, but I feel like I need a little something to make me feel excited about blogging again. I've decided to spend the next few days really getting in touch with my inner creative and work on things I truly love, instead of just working on things, know what I mean? I'm taking this week to really focus on my content and layout of my blog in private. I think doing things slowly and with great care is so much more enjoyable, even if the results are not immediately visible. So this blog will sit quietly this week, and instead of letting it bother me, I'm going to keep growing and bloom when it's time (aka next Monday).

Have you ever taken a short blogging break? If so, did you feel it was beneficial for your blog and productivity?

  1. This quote was JUST what I needed today—thank you! I was also in a blogging rut this week and, let me tell you, it wasn't easy to get out of! It took some work but, before I knew it, I found the inspiration I was looking for—and it was right in front of me! Sometimes we just need to take the time to refocus and figure out why we started. I know you will find your reasons, I just hope they come to you quickly! Keep on keepin' on, my blogging sister!

  2. I think it is a great idea to take a break and focus on life. I've taken breaks from blogging and social media to refocus my purpose for blogging. I always come back stronger and motivated.

  3. I don't take long breaks on purpose (more than 3ish days). I just got internet at my new place yesterday but didn't have it for over a week. For me, it drove me crazy not blogging and keeping up with things. That being said I do take a couple days off if I am not in the creative mood. You really can't force it. You either feel inspired or you don't. Putting up uninspired content sucks so I would just rather not. It is so much better to put up stuff you are excited about and feel proud of. So, if you need a break take one. And just like you are doing, I'd say try doing things you are passionate about in the mean time. I think that might strike up some inspiration and creativity.

    1. It's true, forcing it doesn't make things any better! Thanks Ashley!

  4. I feel like I am in a blogging rut often, I just never know what to write about! I usually write my blogs in batches when I am feeling inspired and then post them whenever I'm having a hard time coming up with content but there's still times when my blog sits idle for weeks at a time.

    1. I hate when I'm in a continual blogging rut! It's seriously the worst! Great idea to write a few posts at a time :)

  6. I get in a slump a couple times a year and I'm in one now. I have nothing to write about, so I'm posting the drafts I've been hoarding. I don't want to post to post though, so I want to make sure it's a decent one. I'd rather have the quality over quantity. People take breaks all the time and if you need one, take one. Blog for yourself, not for others.
