Around Orange County: Healthy Junk

Last week Andrew and I decided to be adventurous with our lunch choice and check out Healthy Junk, an all vegan restaurant located in Downtown Anaheim. Now, when I say Andrew and I, really do just mean me. You couldn't pay him all the money in the world to willingly go to an all vegan restaurant. He is an all you can eat meats type of guy (as most guys are, I'm sure). I'm happy to report that Healthy Junk is Andrew approved, which says a lot about this place because he's seriously a hard sell!

Healthy Junk is a vibrant little restaurant with an extensive menu of all the good things life has to offer...aka burgers, pizza, fries, cookies, and much, much more. Wait, it gets better. These goodies are all made to be as healthy as can be. Everything is vegetarian/vegan, and their menu boasts a vast array of gluten free options, something I truly appreciate! Aside from having a fantastic menu, the atmosphere and branding of this restaurant is truly refreshing. All the employees were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the restaurant opens itself up for everyone to sit back and enjoy great food and great company. Adjacent to the ordering counter is their Junk Bar, a bar that serves vegan, organic beers and cocktails! They even have a cute little table full of board games that you can play while you're enjoying your grown up drinks. I'm not vegan myself, but they've thought of everything here, and if I were to be vegan I'd probably never leave.

Now, on to what we ordered! I had a really tasty organic hibiscus iced tea and Andrew had a butterscotch root beer. Their drink menu is awesome by the way! Fresh juices, smoothies, natural sodas, shakes, teas. Heaven. Andrew ordered a BBQ chicken burger with slaw and a fried pickle, I'll let the picture of that burger speak for itself though. SO yummy looking! I enjoyed the Mango Tango salad, which consisted of quinoa, romaine, jicama, cucumber salsa, avocado, mango and the tastiest mango dressing. I'm still trying to figure out a way to replicate that dressing (or...can I buy it by the bottle, Healthy Junk??). Oh, and we can't forget the curly yam fries and the gluten free peach cobbler that we had. It's so hard to come by decent gluten free desserts, and Healthy Junk totally nailed it with this, and their entire menu really!

What would a lunch date review be without a selfie, of course?? Here we are, totally full off the best vegan food we've ever had (really!). Also, don't mind my ghost looking face. I swear I actually have eyebrows in real life.

Healthy Junk is located at:
Unit B, 201 W Center Street Promenade
Anaheim, CA 92805

Do you have an local vegan places that you've tried recently? I'd love to hear what vegan treats you've been enjoying!
