Skinny 4th of July Refresher

Happy Tuesday everyone!
If you aren't smiling from ear to ear because it's a short week...welllllll.....get to it, yeah??
Since the 4th of July is in a few days, I thought I'd share a quick and refreshing low calorie cocktail with you. I'm not going to lie, this drink kind of happened because I had way too many full calorie cocktails this weekend and I was feeling all kinds of guilty. I was also feeling incredibly thirsty and this drink made me feel like I was quenching that pesky thirst. There's a ton of fruit in here, and very few calories, so this is a great drink if you're trying to sport a bikini this weekend!

For this cocktail you will need:
-a handful of raspberries
-2 strawberries
-8 blueberries
-1 cup of mineral water
-Malibu Coconut Rum
-a jar (or any cup)
-2 straws

Start off by placing a few raspberries in a bowl with a tiny bit of water. With a fork, mash those puppies up until they get a jam like consistency.

Arrange the rest of your fruits like a kabob. I didn't have any skewers handy, and I wasn't about to delay my cocktail drinking time by going to the store to buy anything, so I just stuck these through a straw and it worked perfectly fine!

Put your kabob aside for now, and throw your raspberry mash into your cup and add as much ice as your heart desires. Next, throw in a splash of Malibu Coconut Rum. I like to count to 5-mississippis when I'm pouring alcohol. That might not be everyone's cup of (alcoholic) tea, so add in as much as you would like.

Add in your mineral water. I like this mixed berry flavor since I used so many berries in this drink.

Garnish your drink with your fruit kabob you made earlier, throw in another straw for sipping, and enjoy! Note: You can easily make this a mocktail by skipping the rum. It will still be so delicious and refreshing!

What's your go to 4th of July go-to beverage?
Cheers!

  5. yum!! we've been trying to cut down on calories by just drinking straight whiskey instead of mixing it in anything. i think vodka and those lighter spirits are probably lower calorie.. but vodka makes me gag. whatever happened to our drink date?! i think we should go brewery hopping in SD!

  6. I'm obsessed with you, seriously. This looks AMAZING + roughly 5 Mississippi counts is totally my cup of alcoholic tea. I've been trying to cut down on carbs lately and have been looking into ways to make a healthy low carb drink. This looks like it'd definitely fit the bill, plus it's just so darn festive. Plus, love the straw improvisation! Totes genius! Wishing you many positive vibes over this upcoming long holiday weekend xoxo
