So, who else is obsessed with iced tea in the summer time? I drink it like it's going out of style, surely I'm not the only one, yes? I love fruity, unsweetened teas, particularly the cherry blossom tea from Coffee Bean. SO yummy! I realized I was having that tea way too often when the cashier started recognizing me and knowing my order before I even got to the register. Woops. I decided I had to start making an effort to make iced tea at home more often, so I loaded up on a few of my favorite teas from the grocery store and spent an afternoon experimenting with them a bit...you know, finding ways to make it acceptable to have more tea throughout the day. I ended up making a shaved ice concoction out of tea and fruit, which resulted in an incredibly refreshing and super easy to make summer treat! This is really easy to adjust to your liking because you can use any tea and any fruits!
For this treat you will need:
-an assortment of your favorite fruits. I chose a berry flavored tea so I kept with the theme and used strawberries, blueberries, and some cherries. I also used the juice of half a lemon.
-2 tea bags of your choice.
Boil some water and let your tea bags sit for about 5 minutes...
While that's happening, cut up your fruit pieces into small chunks and mash them up to the best of your abilities...
Combine your tea and fruit together into a container, and squeeze your lemon juice in...
Freeze for about 3 hours. After it's completely frozen, "rake" the ice with a fork. You'll start to get little bits of shaved ice. Transfer to your cup and enjoy!
What's your go to summer drink? Have you tried experimenting and figuring out different ways to have it? I'd love to hear about it!
Now this is a refreshing & tasty idea. I just bought an assortment of fruit teas so this is perfect. :] // itsCarmen.com ☼
