Around Orange County: Anaheim Packing District

After forever and a half, Andrew and I FINALLY went on a date last night! Hooraaayyy!

Obligatory date night selfie!

We decided to check out the Anaheim Packing District since it opened not too long ago and oh.my.gah. my Pinterest loving heart basically exploded the minute I walked in. Mason jars galore, rustic swings, twinkling lights, beautiful flowers! I was convinced I had just walked into my wedding board.

Amongst all the dreamy decor sat equally dreamy food and coffee places. Both floors of the building held promising restaurants to try. Andrew and I started with dessert first, because hi, dessert is the best! We tried the incredibly popular Popbar. We waited in line about 10 minutes which wasn't very long according to experts (and by that I mean a girl standing in line with us)  who told us sometimes the wait is 30+ minutes. Yikes! Anyway, we waited a solid 10 minutes and ordered a hazelnut gelato pop topped with white chocolate and pistachios. SO. GOOD. I see why this place is the most popular establishment in the building. The possibilities for an ice cream bar are endless. They have awesome flavors, awesome toppings, and great service!

We walked around in circles for a while trying to figure out what we should have for dinner. Seriously, there's just so much to choose from. We finally decided to try The Iron Press. They have the cutest picnic tables outside on their patio and their service is rather quick! My only complaint was that they didn't have everything shown on their menu for some reason. Andrew had a waffle and fried chicken and I had the Irish nachos.

A few notes if you're planning a visit....parking is pretty limited if you're trying to park in front of the building, but there are a lot of signs redirecting traffic to nearby lots. A few of the spaces inside the building are still  under development but they appear on the directory regardless. Don't trust the directory. You'll walk around aimlessly trying to find a restaurant that's still not open. Come early. We left around 6pm and the entire place was PACKED. No pun intended. And lastly, come with an open mind...

A lot of Yelp reviewers talk down on the packing district for it being incredibly "hipster". All I have to say is, you must not live in Anaheim. This place is such a welcome change to a city that is unfortunately littered with gangsters and crime. I've noticed a lot of little trendy shops and restaurants popping up around the city and I think it's great that places such as these are bringing our community together for once. The Anaheim Packing District is 100% a fun and safe place to go and enjoy tasty treats, visually appealing decor, and an eclectic array of people watching. SO...get off your hipster hating high horse and enjoy some waffles will ya?
