Listed Friday: 10 Reasons Why Being a Blogger is Totally Awesome!

Hey there!
Happy Friday!
I'm writing this at 2 am, because I'm living life on the edge these days. Andy by that I mean, I took way too long of a nap during the day and now I can't sleep.

So I'm watching American Blogger currently. You know, the documentary everyone has an opinion about. I feel weird stating my own thoughts, because my blog is so small and who am I to say anything about being an American blogger or whatevs, right? 'Cept for I AM a blogger, and "a persons a person no matter how small". Thanks a lot for that, Dr. Seuss, you've instilled some serious confidence in me!

I think the biggest issue other bloggers were having with this project is their lack of "variety" in the bloggers they chose to feature. I get it, there's so much more to blogging than just mom and family blogs. But truthfully, I'm really freaking nosy and I want to know more about how those bloggers in particular live their life. Surely you're curious too. Because really, who in the world can possibly live in a house full of children and still keep their all white everything home in pristine condition all while looking totally fabulous themselves? According to this documentary, these bloggers. If you're looking for a glimpse of their real life, you're not going to get it with this film. If you're looking to learn something new about blogging, you also won't get that from this film. If you've never in your life heard about blogging (I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you have though, since you're here and all) this film is a great place to start. It's a little slow moving and a little repetitive, but seeing a documentary dedicated solely to blogging is kind of cool! It could have been executed a little better, and truthfully I don't know that anyone besides bloggers will watch it, but overall I think getting the blogging world "out there"  for others to understand is a pretty neat idea and something that needs to happen more. I cannot tell you how many times I've had friends ask me what my tumblr name is when asking about my blog; a question to which I respond to by lighting them on fire. They just don't GET blogging, and I think many non bloggers won't understand blogging till they start actively reading blogs or writing one themselves.

Though I wasn't blown away by the documentary, it did get me thinking about how awesome it is to be a, here we go:

1. Friendships!
This is my number 1 favorite thing about the blogging world. When I first started blogging, I was constantly freaked out thinking the only people that ever visited the internet were pedophiles on the hunt for their next victim. When people started talking to me in the comment section, I'd stalk their blog nonstop till I confirmed they in fact weren't 50 year old men pretending to be 20 something year old women. I haven't met all my blogger friends, but I'm going to hope and assume they in fact are not weird old men. Seriously though, I've met some of the greatest women through this little blog. I consider some to be my every day, "real life" friends, who I no longer see as bloggers but more as my go to girls, and that's something I never thought I'd take from this experience. My blog friends (even the ones I haven't met in person) know more about my life than my long time friends do, and I'm so grateful to know that I have so many friends all over the US who just care about me and my well being. That's something totally powerful that I never would have experienced without my blog.

2. You can take pictures of whatever the heck you want, because it's for your BLOG

I used to feel really weird constantly whipping out my camera everywhere I went, but now it's like second nature. I love that I take photos of anything and everything. It reminds me to take the time to slow down and really see what is going on around me.

3. You will never forget what you or your dog look like
King Duke!
#selfiecentral24/7. K, so I've never actually posted a selfie of just myself, but I definitely jump on the opportunity to take a selfie with anyone who will do so. Also, obviously as a blogger you've got to take as many photos of your pup as possible; because let's be real here, they're usually the only reason why people ever visit your blog.

4. You don't HAVE to talk to those around you because you're seriously busy blogging
Don't talk to me, I'm busy planning my blog month.
Sometimes I'm just feeling like a grump and I don't want to talk to anyone. Lucky for me, I can always turn on my computer and blog (and by blog I mean spend hours reading other blogs). If Andrew knows I'm blogging, he'll usually play a few video games on his own so I can "focus". Ahhhh serenity and quiet, just what you need sometimes. Thanks, blog.

5. One corner of your house is ALWAYS clean

Most of my room is seriously messy, most of the time...BUT I've always got my one little corner or area that stays clean for my blog photos. Sometimes when I'm feeling overwhelmed with my own clutter, I look at my perfect little corner and I feel much better about myself.

6. You get to go on a lot of dates!

The other night I text Andrew that we HAD to go on more dates because my blog was lacking personal posts (and because I missed him of course), to which he responded "yeah you're right, let's go on a few really fun dates next week and take a ton of photos". BINGO. Blogging is the key to going on many dates. Except, don't blog when you've just started dating, otherwise your date will think you're weird. Instead, wait till your man has figured out your quirks, and better yet, proposed or has been in a long term relationship with you, and then blog the crap out of said dates!

7. No awkward silences
When in doubt, add a Duke pic
There's ALWAYS something blog related you can talk about. Like all. the. time.

8.  Stalking is acceptable, and expect

In order to make a deep connection with a blogger, you've really gotta know their life. In order to really know their life, you've gotta stalk their blog. Blogging is my favorite because stalking is acceptable. I used to think people would be weirded out if I knew too much about their life before I actually met them in person, but really, as bloggers we must admit it's kind of flattering when that happens. So go on, stalk away.

9. Your life is consumed by glitter

If you DIY for your blog, chances are you'll find random bits of glitter around your house long after you've crafted. Personally I love those moments, because who ISN'T a fan of glitter?? Bonus points when Andrew randomly has glitter on his face because my glitter is seriously EVERYWHERE.

10. You make the rules
One last Duke picture, because #3.
Your blog is YOUR blog, so you can do whatevaaa with it! Such as now, I don't actually have a solid 10th reason why blogging is awesome, but I'm the queen of this page, so anything goes-and that's totally awesome!

What's your favorite thing about being a blogger??
