Hazlenut Coffee & Banana Smoothie

Smoothies are all the rage these days, and for good reason! They're both healthy and delicious. While I'm no stranger to green smoothies in the morning, I don't actually like drinking them every day because I'd usually rather have a ginormous cup of coffee (I'm the poster child for healthy eating, obviously). I decided I would play around a bit with iced coffee and a protein powder full of superfoods for this smoothie, and the results were awesome! It almost resembles a frappuccino, but with way less sugar, calories, and unknown crap.

For this smoothie you'll need:
-1/2 cup cold brewed coffee (I used Stumptown Coffee Roasters Cold Brew, but anything works)
-Protein powder (I used Green Superfood Chocolate protein powder. It's organic, has all the benefits of green superfoods, supports healthy energy levels, yada yada. It tastes really good!)
-1/2 cup of hazelnut milk
-1 whole banana, frozen

Blend all ingredients together till smooth, top with coconut shavings if desired.

  1. I always want to make smoothies in the AM, but I am up at like 5:00 and Leo is still sound asleep and we have a tiny apartment and the kitchen is right by our bedroom.... kinda. I'm gonna test the waters tomorrow. Coffee protein powder banana smoothie but I'm not gonna buy anything i'm just gonna use what i have and let you know how that works out. Done rambling, over & out.

    1. You should make your smoothie ahead of time, freeze it into an ice cube tray, and then the night before pop a few of the smoothie cubes into a cup and stick it in the fridge. They'll defrost and you'll have an ice cold smoothie first thing in the morning!

  2. Love the idea of this. I like the idea of getting Frapucchinos, but I know there's so much sugar and, like you put it, crap in there. So usually I opt out and get tea. Favoriting this to try out this summer when I have access to a blender. Looks yummy!

    1. I always get tea too! Ideally I'd ALWAYS be having coffee though!
