Weekly Wishes #18: April Goals!

There's no freaking way it's already APRIL tomorrow! AH!
Time is seriously flying!

First off, happy Monday, and happy last day of March! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.

Southern California was a bit, shaky all weekend, if you will. We experienced our first big earthquake in quite some time on Friday night, with the epicenter located less than 10 miles from my home. Said earthquake was followed by 100+ aftershocks. And no, I'm not exaggerating that number, that's actually how many aftershocks there were. I didn't feel all of them, but about 10 minutes after the big earthquake on Friday night we experienced one larger aftershock, followed by a lot of smaller ones throughout the night. Duke and I were both pretty freaked out and barely slept, while king Andrew snored the night away without a care in the world. Saturday morning, there were about a million aftershocks, 2 of which came while I was in the shower. Now, if you know me in real life, you know that I am NOT the person you want around you in case of an emergency. I'm quick to get in a serious frenzy, and if something major were to happen, I'd try my best to save you but...I can't make any promises. I was totally panicked that we weren't ready in case another big earthquake happened. Obviously I decided I should pack a bag with a few of our belongings, you know for precaution. So, it's Saturday night, I'm packing a bag, and ANOTHER earthquake happens, this time with the epicenter 3 miles from my house, followed by 10, TEN, aftershocks. Guys, I was ready to fly off to another state by that point. If you're not located in this particular part of Orange County, chances are you only felt the one big earthquake Friday night and maybe 1 or 2 aftershocks. But the epicenter is just so ridiculously close to us, that we were feeling just about every single aftershock, and each one was a new wave of fear. We spent all of Sunday earthquake and aftershock free, and I really hope it stays that way because I am not emotionally ready for anything else this week. I checked my emergency bag this morning and realized I packed 1 pair of sweats, Duke's blanket, his leash, 4 of his toys and some treats for him. That's all. Forget about Andy, forget about food and water, Duke's got all he needs! Phew!

Saturday's blogger event
Sunday's bridal expo
Anyway, aside from all the earthquake madness, it was a lovely weekend. Saturday we held our second Bloggers Giving Back event, Well Boxed, and it was such a blast! A room full of bloggers making care packages for our service men and women overseas-doesn't get any better! If you made a package yourself, don't forget to join the link up this Friday to share what you sent! Esther was able to come from Vegas for this event, and it was so great getting to know her and hanging out with her all day! She actually got dropped off at my house so I could drive her to the event and I was slightly starstruck since I've been following her blog for so long. It was the weirdest thing to suddenly see her right in front of me and spend the entire day with her like it was whatevaaa after only "knowing" her online. The internet is a funny place. Also, in case you're wondering, she is just as cool in person as she is on her blog! Sunday (aka earthquake free day) I went to a bridal expo with my maid of honor and my mom. It put me in the giddiest wedding spirit, especially because I got to try on a veil for the first time! I was slightly shrieking with excitement inside! Side note: my mom wants me to tell the internet that she doesn't usually look that way (in the photo booth photos) she was super confused about when to smile, and we had just sampled too much champagne and sangria. She's too cute hehe.

Sorry, that ended up being a much longer weekend recap than I anticipated. High five to you if you've made it this far!

Here's Duke, asking you to please keep reading this post...
The start of a new month means new goals! Linking up with Melyssa today for Weekly Wishes. But first, let's recap my March goals!

1. Take a cake decorating class. Um, no.
2. Give my blog a facelift. Negative.
3. Sponsor a few blogs. I officially paid for one sponsorship. That counts!
4. Throw another fabulous Bloggers Giving Back event! Check!
5. Celebrate Andy all month long. Read about his birthday festivities here and here!
6. Ask our friends to be in our bridal party. I should tell you now that we are having a ridiculously large bridal party. 20 people (not including us) to be exact.
7. Make the final decision on our venue and ceremony space. More than halfway there with this one, we'll be booking our venue in the next 2 weeks!
8. Finish watching Breaking Bad. YES! SO GOOD! It's seriously such a genius show! I also made a "meth" cocktail to celebrate us finishing the series! Read all about that here.
9. Let things go. I'm a natural people pleaser, even when people aren't so pleasant towards me. There's truly a difference between being kind and letting people walk all over you, and I've finally differentiated between the two. GO ME.
10. Relax. Um, no.

Not so bad! April is already a crazy busy month for me, and it hasn't even officially started! So much wedding stuff, so much school stuff, so much blog stuff, so much FUN stuff!!
April Goals:
1. Give my blog a facelift. If I don't do it this month, please feel free to ban me from blogland. Seriously, this blog needs to get organized asap.
2. Take a wedding workshop and a cake decorating class. I am so excited for the wedding workshop, which I'm already signed up for. It's through a paper craft store, and I'll be learning how to DIY my save the dates, invitations, menus, programs, favors, etc. I've also actually signed up for a cake decorating class, finally!
3. Finish my blogger Skillshare class and start the calligraphy course. I'm not too in love with the blogging class currently, but I suppose I haven't really invested my time into it to really decide if I like or not. I'm determined to finish it though! I'm also determined to start and try to learn calligraphy, because I think it'd be fun to address our invitations that way.
4. Sponsor more blogs. I've got my eye on quite a few blogs so I've really just got to narrow it down.
5. Finish all my April guest posts by the end of this week (I guess this should really go on a weekly wishes post over a monthly goals post but whatevs). I'll be guest posting for a few bloggers this month and I am SO EXCITED!
6. Book our venue, plan our engagement party for May, and take our engagement photos. I'm too excited guys! Anyone want to take a guess as to where we're taking our engagement photos?? Hint: we really like going there, like a lot.
7. Drink. More. Water. My skin has been freaking out and I've been feeling really sluggish, probably because I drink way too much coffee and not enough water.
8. Blog more recipes. I've been experimenting a lot and for some reason it hasn't occurred to me to share anything on here. Talk about being the worst blogger.

What are your April goals? I'd love to hear all about them!
PS, in case you missed it, I'm having a closet sale through the end of Thursday this week! Check it out here!

Have a fantastic Monday!

  1. YIKES - what a crazy, crazy weekend you had. Glad you're okay and I'll hope for no more aftershocks!

Looks like you have a great month planned ahead. I recently started drinking more water and found it helpful to get a 33oz. water bottle (CamelBak) ... I know I need to fill it up once during the day (after the initial) and I meet my goal!

I'm also excited to see your recipes...just followed on BlogLovin'. My April goal is to "focus on food" and trying new recipes is part of it. I can't wait to see what you have to share!

    Have a great week/month :) ~ Jessica @ Kate & Trudy

    1. That's water bottle tip is a great idea! I'll have to switch to doing that, I have an app and it's not as helpful as I'd like it to be, mostly because I just ignore it every time it beeps! Thanks for following me on Bloglovin! I'm really excited to share more about the foods I've been making! Have a great week :)

  2. I'm impressed with how well you did with your March goals! I've decided I've got to set some monthly goals, I love this idea! Good luck with your April goals, especially the wedding ones, so much fun (even though a lot of work)!

  3. I can't imagine living where there are earthquakes like that! I've only been in one (tiny) one before and that scared me enough for the rest of my life. I'm glad you all are okay though! That blogging event looks so fun! Makes me wish I didn't live all the way across the country! I can see myself having a huge bridal party as well. I've always seen myself with a small one but I just don't know that I could narrow down my friends that much!

    1. You should come to CA for blogging events of course! Except you'd have to deal with the earthquake situation haha. I agree about not being able to narrow down our group of friends, everyone is just too important!

  4. Ah, what a fun time you've been having! Bridal expos + blogger meetups + wine sounds like a great time! And I've been wanting to take a Skillshare class for the longest time now-- let me know how you end up liking yours! :)

    1. I definitely had a great weekend! Almost done with my blogger class now so I'll update soon :)

  5. Thanks for driving me there and hanging out all day! I was actually really nervous bc I've been so antisocial last year... I thought I lost all my social skills, but bc you were so easy going about everything, it made the day and event so much easier. :) I'm kinda sad I didn't get to meet duke though!

    1. It was so fun hanging out with you! Duke was so antsy because of the earthquakes all weekend, he wouldn't have been very pleasant haha. But obviooousslly you're coming for another visit right?!? You can meet him then ;)

  6. Ummm this is exactly why I love Arizona. We get Haboobs and Monsoons. That's about it.

Anywhoo, your mom is SO CUTE! hahaha I love love love seeing your wedding posts :) I love the idea of addressing your invites in calligraphy! Good luck this month, xoxo

    1. I experienced my first monsoon when I was in AZ last summer and I actually freaked out haha. It was too crazy!

  7. As long as you keep blogging and be your adorable and sweet self, there's no reason to change this blog. The essence is still you :-) but it would be nice to have you on Twitter, so it's easier to chat with you ;-)

And keep those recipes coming, those post always seem so yummy!

I have only one monthly goal and it's boring and no fun: budgetting :-s

Have a great week, sweet friend!

    1. Thank you Cindy! You are so sweet! :) Also, I just tweeted you!

  8. Great goals! I hope you join the 30 Day Green Smoothie challenge this month. I find [or I think] that my skin tends to glow and get a lot clearer after a few days =)

    1. My skin needs some serious TLC so I'm joining you!

  9. ahhh the earthquakes and aftershocks sound so scary - wow. and I probably would've packed a similar bag with all stuff for the dogs haha.

    1. Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one that immediately thinks of the furry friend first!

  10. Wow the earthquake stuff sounds super scary, I would have definitely taken the first flight anywhere, I've never experienced one before (and hope I never do!)! Sounds like you're having so much fun planning your wedding and I get you on the people pleasing bit - a difference I've had to discover myself too! Good luck with your goals - discovered you on the Weekly Wishes link up and look forward to following your adventures :-)

    1. So sweet! Thank you Cheryn! Hope you're having a great week so far :)
