My name is Duke, and I'm my mommas favorite thing in the entire world.
I cannot believe mom's been blogging for this long and this is the first time she's letting me post anything.
I've been begging her to let me start my own blog, or at least guest post on here, but she's been hogging me from you all. I apologize on her behalf. I heard there's a pets are people too linkup over at Jade & Oak and Karly Kim today and I was like "mom, you gotta let me write" so here I am, for all of you, my lovely admirers-because I'm a people too.
Since this is my first time here, I'll introduce myself real quick.
My full name is Duke Chandler M Keller (do you watch Friends?? DO YA???). My dad calls me Dukeford, or Dukefordino, depending on his mood. I like long walks on the beach, shredding my toys to pieces, taking up moms' entire bed, and sleeping with my butt on dads' face. I also like to eat-but who doesn't amiright?
Mom buys me lots of treats, but she hides them and only lets me eat them when I'm being good. It's awful. The secret is, I pretend to be good so she'll give me treats, and when she's away I do ALL the bad stuff. Anyway, I'm not here to tell you my doggy life secrets, I mean, we just met. Instead, I'm going to share with you a recipe for one of my all time favorite treats mom makes for me-pupcakes! They're easy and quick to make (or so mom says, I seriously feel like they take forever). These pupcakes have a really yummy yogurt-peanut butter frosting that is just my favorite thing in all of the world. Make these for your fur friend and you will be their favorite human forever and ever.
Recipe adapted from The Scrumptious Pumpkin
What you need:
For the pupcakes
-½ cup whole wheat flour (or any flour)
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-⅓ cup vegetable oil
-⅓ cup unsweetened applesauce (I also like it with other fruit purees like peach and strawberry)
-2 tablespoons honey
For the frosting
3 tablespoons Greek yogurt (plain is best but I also like vanilla)
1½ tablespoons creamy peanut butter
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Line a muffin tin with paper liners
3. In a medium bowl mix together the flour & baking powder
4. Add the vegetable oil, applesauce, egg and honey, and whisk gently. Divide the batter between muffin cups and bake until light brown (I mean seriously light though people)
5. Allow the pupcakes to cool completely before frosting (this is a nightmare for me)
6. For the frosting, stir the yogurt and peanut butter together and generously spread on top of each pupcake. 7. Watch your pal devour them.
Mom always puts a small slice of strawberry on top of mine and I love it!
Do you have any special treats you bake for your pup?
Let me know, so I can let mom know. She LOVES baking for me.
That's all for today!
